At the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, students that live at Tuckaway Hall tell strange stories about hearing footsteps and shuffling feet in their dorm rooms late at night. Doors have also been known to randomly get stuck and refuse to open. Sometimes they open on their own and violently slam shut in the middle of the night.
In the early 1980s a student sleeping in his dorm in Tuckaway when he was abruptly jolted from a deep sleep. Groggy and confused, the young man realized something cold was in his hand. The student looked up and saw a silhouette standing over him as it held onto its hand. Thinking he was being pranked by a friend, the student pulled his hand away and began to pull the covers away. As he jumped out of bed, the opaque figure standing over him slowly faded into the night.
