Tennessee Ghost Stories: Oakland Cemetery

On December 1862 Nathan Bedford Forrest and cavalry took Union forces by surprise in Trenton, Tennessee and claimed the city for the Confederacy. But the victory came at a cost. Forrest lost ten of his men in the skirmish and they were each buried in Oakland Cemetery.

However, according to legend, underneath the ten headstones are the remains of only nine Confederate soldiers. One soldier was inadvertently buried along the tree line instead of with his fellow Rebels.

Ever since the war people have noticed a blue light floating through the cemetery, typically during a rain storm. Each time the light is spotted it always disappears around the headstones of his fallen brothers.
