Tennessee Ghost Stories: Something Wrong in the Cellar

The cellar at Cragfont in Castalian Springs, Tennessee is believed to be one of the most haunted places in Sumner County, Tennessee. From Native Americans attacks to slavery, the old house built in 1802 has been through a lot!

One day when I was visiting the house, I was walking around outside when I heard a loud bang, like a grenade had gone off in the cellar. I walked over to one of the Master Gardner’s who was working nearby and asked her if she heard the loud noise. She told me that she did, but kept working. I was a little freaked out so I asked her if she wanted me to go check it out with her. Not missing a beat, the lady replied, “Oh it happens all the time”, and kept working.

According to legend a slave was killed in the cellar sometime in the 19th century by a member of the Winchester family. The former servant is just one of the spirits that is believed to still roam the property.

Supposedly he is just one of the spirits that still roams the property.
