After the death of his wife, country music star Roy Acuff moved into a modest house next to the Opry House on the grounds of the Opryland theme park in 1983. Acuff was a beloved member of the Opry family and WSM wanted to make sure he was taken care of. Acuff thrived in the house and enjoyed being close enough to perform regularly at the Opry as well as greeting visitors at Opryland U. S. A. until he passed away in 1992.
Today staff members claim to hear footsteps and doors slamming in the old home late at night. More than one security guard has run out of the building after the sun has gone down because they were frightened from unexplainable noises they heard inside the old Acuff house.
