Court Square in downtown Memphis is said to be haunted by a ten year old boy named Claude Pugh. Claude was playing with a toy boat along the rim of the Hebe Fountain on August 26, 1884.
Somehow the child slipped and fell into fountain. Because the bottom was sloped and covered with algae Claude couldn’t get out and drowned. Sadly, there were hundreds of people in the park that summer day and no one tried to give assistance the poor, helpless boy.
Today the spirit of Claude likes to hang out by the fountain. He is said to be rather shy but will reveal himself to children who sometimes claim to see a little boy by the fountain. Local paranormal investigators have also captured EVPs of the boy at night after bringing him toys to play with.
