Tennessee Ghost Stories: Crazy George

Back in the woods near Cookeville, there is an isolated bridge over the train tracks. For decades it has been known as Crazy George’s bridge and it’s believed to be haunted by the spirit of a former railroad employee.

You see, Crazy George liked to have a beer or two on the job; that’s how he got the name Crazy George. One night ol’ George had one too many and was fooling around under the bridge when he was beheaded by an oncoming locomotive. Ouch!

According to Putnam County legend, if you go to the bridge and call out “Crazy George” three times, a light materializes and a headless shadow carrying a lantern will begin walking towards you.

Are you brave enough to do it?
