Tennessee Ghost Stories: Gambling Ghosts

A woman’s clothing boutique on the Murfreesboro Square called Sugaree’s is home to two fun loving spirits, Jeffrey, and Mr Jackson.

The two are thought to be African American gentlemen who spent time in the building smoking cigars, drinking whiskey and playing cards in the early 20th century during prohibition. In fact, those that work on the shop sometimes smell cigar smoke.

A local paranormal group conducted an investigation of the store and mentioned that they wouldn’t say anything about the card game that is played in the back room. After promising to keep their secret, they picked up an EVP saying, “You better not…”

To keep the spirits happy the owner of the shop occasionally leaves bourbon in the backroom after she leaves for the night.
