In the early morning hours of January 17, 1985 excitement filled the East Tennessee State University campus in Johnson City as a huge snowstorm dumped several inches of snow on the ground. As several students bundled up and began having an impromptu snowball fight, they began to hear what sounded like a race car off in the distance. The noise got closer and closer until the kids noticed a big ball of fire in the sky. As the students tried to make sense of what they were seeing, a small airplane slammed violently into a parking lot next to Lucille-Clement Hall.
Fortunately, no students were injured. However, the three men onboard en route to Cincinnati in the Cessna died upon impact. Since the tragic crash, students at ETSU have claimed that Lucille-Clement Hall is haunted. The dorm is believed to be haunted by the spirit of one of the men who perished in the crash.
According to former students that have lived in the dorm, doors occasionally open and slam shut all by themselves. Water faucets were also known to turn themselves on in the middle of the night or while students were in class.
The restless wraith has also been known to play around with the elevator and cause it to go to random floors at night.
